CR Electronic Design

The Woodham CD player is designed to complement other  CR Woodham products both visually and technically.  Styled to match the Woodham Classic pre-amplifier but equally suited to the classic CR tube and transistor amplifiers.   

Following our minimalist design philosophy this machine features a simple and elegant control system which ensures music is reproduced with minimum fuss and maximum enjoyment whether controlled by the remote control handset or from the front mounted control switch and buttons.

 Standard functions such as fast forward or back,  track skip forward or back,  pause,  play, stop and eject are all controlled by a rotary switch and single push button.

Digital to analogue conversion is by a Crystal 24 bit 96 KHz converter,  audio output stages use discrete semiconductors producing a true high end sound quality.  Careful component choice and the simplicity of design of  the DAC filter and buffer circuitry assure a sound that  naturally  complements the CR signature.

Fully balanced and single ended (RCA) audio outputs are provided.

Plug in modules allow the DAC to be  easily  upgraded, first top a dual converter using Analogue Devices AD1835  and finally to include a HRDF  up-sampling module which offers 192KHz sampling. 

HRDF (High Resolution Digital Filtering) is a technique which allows high sampling frequency DAC's to operate  at their best level of performance by pre-over sampling the input signal to a sample rate of 192KHz.  The module also offers a range of user selectable digital domain filters for time and frequency resolution.
