Open and dynamic are words often used to describe the CR324SE.
CR’s traditional links to the professional audio field led to an
amplifier design based on a studio monitor product, which seemed a
natural move.
Making a similar product available for Hi-Fi use was irresistible.
Heavy current output circuits and design simplicity are the hallmark of
this design. The best available output transistors are used, lower cost
types being rejected as inconsistent or unreliable.
The CR324SE is intended for use with 4 to 8 ohm loudspeakers; although
it’s exceptional drive capability will cope well with loudspeakers,
presenting wide impedance variations across the audio spectrum. Internal
self-regulating circuitry and thermal control will protect the amplifier
from accidental abuse, allowing it to recover without recourse to
service engineers or dealers.
This capability also reflects in higher
power performance, with an almost pro-rata increase in output between
eight and four ohm loads.
The sound is never harsh; light musical passages being faithfully
reproduced with an easy transition to full orchestration or rock music.
